Some people dread rainy days. They leave people stuck inside, perhaps with wild kids, and bored. I, however, love rainy days, and look forward to each one I receive. On those days, I get to stay inside, and heat up my oven to bake, warming my whole house, and providing the cozy atmosphere I long for.
I love the smell of freshly baked bread, and it is especially appealing when it’s raining. My husband comes home from work, a little wet, and shouts for joy, because he also loves fresh, warm bread. Another great treat to make is chocolate chip cookies. When the kids come home from school, they can grab a glass of milk and a warm, gooey chocolate chip cookie. Staying along the lines of sweets, brownies are another great option for rainy-day baking. The chocolate goodness can melt away the blues and give a little energy to keep baking the day away. Who doesn’t love a warm mug of hot chocolate? With a little extra time inside, don’t use a hot chocolate mix, cook up your own and you’ll never want to go back. Finally, soup will be a welcome dinner for your husband and anyone else coming home at the end of a long, wet day.
The next time you get a rainy day, embrace it and spend it in your kitchen.
